Development and optimization of compact heat exchangers for gas and high temperature nuclear power plants (HTR) within a designer team.

--Information and then suggestion of solutions on the functional plane and on the selection of materials.
--Dimension calculations.
--Technological development monitoring.

The objective of my study was to optimise the design of:
the cooler for the GT-MHR project with one cooling stage.
the intermediate heat exchanger (IHX) for a combined cycle where the thermal power is providing by a nuclear HTR.
in order to increase the total efficiency of the plant taking into account of the compactness, the heat exchange performances and the pressure losses.

Study of 3 concepts:

HEATRIC Concept
PACKINOX Concept
INGERSOLL RAND Concept

EDF , Chinon (37) (a 3-month Internship)
Engineering department:
--Economic checking about exchangers and calculations of heat losses in the secondary coolant circuit.

Test department:
--Work with technicians to gauge and to fix on the sensors.
